An excellent opportunity is available for a Street Cleaning Operative to join a local authority environmental services team on a 3-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension.
This role is ideal for reliable and hardworking individuals who enjoy outdoor work and take pride in helping keep local communities clean, safe, and well maintained.
🕒 Up to 37 hours per week
📅 Monday to Friday – Flexible weekly shifts

🏡 Main Responsibilities
✔ Street cleaning and litter picking
✔ Weed control and vegetation maintenance
✔ Fly-tipping removal and site clearances
✔ Graffiti removal and environmental improvement work
✔ Play area inspections and reporting maintenance issues
✔ Assisting with bulky waste collections
✔ Operating mechanical sweeping equipment
✔ Grounds maintenance including grass cutting and hedge trimming
✔ Supporting domestic and commercial waste collection services
✅ Candidate Requirements
✔ Full UK driving licence (maximum 3 penalty points)
✔ CSC / Class 1 licence essential
✔ Previous experience in street cleansing, waste management, or grounds maintenance preferred
✔ Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
✔ Good understanding of health & safety procedures
✔ Able to work independently and within a team
✔ Flexible and reliable for ad hoc weekly shifts

📆 Contract Length: 3 months with potential extension
