About the Role
Elementa is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a specialist SEND and SEMH school in Dorking, Surrey. The school works with children and young people who have additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and trauma-related challenges.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will help students both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging positive learning experiences while supporting their emotional, social, and academic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one, two-to-one, or small group support for students.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery.
- Support students with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Encourage student engagement and independence.
- Assist with safeguarding and pastoral care when required.
- Uphold the school’s values and high expectations.
Requirements
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
- Previous experience in education, childcare, youth work, care, or support roles is desirable.
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is an advantage.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred for a quicker start, although new applications are accepted.
