About the Role
Pullins Bakery is looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our team. You will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, preparing food and drinks, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and ensuring our bakery is welcoming and well-stocked throughout the day.
This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. You will also assist with opening and closing the shop, managing stock, and supporting the wider team whenever needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them with their purchases.
- Recommend products confidently and promote additional bakery items where appropriate.
- Prepare and serve food and hot drinks to a consistently high standard.
- Process customer payments accurately using the EPOS retail system.
- Maintain excellent product knowledge to advise customers effectively.
- Ensure displays are attractive, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
- Monitor stock levels, rotate products, check expiry dates, and report low stock promptly.
- Assist with stock ordering when required.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Complete and maintain all required shop documentation in line with company and legal requirements.
- Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve concerns wherever possible, escalating issues to the Shop Manager when necessary.
- Count and balance the cash register at the end of each shift, maintaining accurate records and receipts.
- Open and close the shop safely and securely, including responsibility for shop keys when required.
- Keep the shop clean, tidy, and organised throughout the day, and assist with end-of-day cleaning and preparation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support other departments when needed.
- Participate in training, performance reviews, and ongoing development opportunities.
- Carry out additional duties or provide cover for supervisors when requested.

- Good IT skills and confidence using retail management or EPOS systems.
- High standards of honesty, reliability, and professionalism.

- A willingness to learn, participate in training, and apply new skills in the workplace.
